      Publisher's Synopsis

World-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck, in decades of research on achievement and success, has discovered a truly groundbreaking idea-the power of our mindset.

Dweck explains why it's not just our abilities and talent that bring us success-but whether we approach them with a fixed or growth mindset. She makes clear why praising intelligence and ability doesn't foster self-esteem and lead to accomplishment, but may actually jeopardize success. With the right mindset, we can motivate our kids and help them to raise their grades, as well as reach our own goals-personal and professional. Dweck reveals what all great parents, teachers, CEOs, and athletes already know: how a simple idea about the brain can create a love of learning and a resilience that is the basis of great accomplishment in every area.

      Media

“Mindset” has become a popular buzzword today—and for very good reasons. It serves as the foundation for everything we aspire to achieve in life. Changing our mindset is one of the most important yet challenging things we can do, as it has developed as a core response to our experiences since birth.

Carol Dweck introduces the concept of two predominant mindsets: the fixed mindset and the growth mindset. Individuals with a fixed mindset hold the belief that their abilities and intelligence are static traits, which often leads to a fear of failure and resistance to challenges. In contrast, those with a growth mindset view their abilities as malleable qualities that can be developed through effort and perseverance.

In my view, the greatest contribution lies in its practical strategies for shifting one’s mindset toward embracing challenges, viewing failures as opportunities for growth, and approaching success with a belief in the potential for improvement.
