Ellen grew up in the beautiful Norfolk countryside, with an idyllic but strict Christian upbringing. She met and married Keith, an RAF policeman, and moved to Cyprus. Some years later they moved to the Salvation Army's Faith House in London, where they worked with child runaways, street girls, and the homeless. Now retired, they live in Norfolk.
