The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra perform Puccini's tragic tale of love, intrigue and betrayal in Napoleonic Rome, along with Bryn Terfel, Catherine Malfitano and Richard Margison, conducted by Riccardo Chailly. In Rome, 1800, former consul Cesare Angelotti seeks refuge with the painter Cavaradossi in the Attavanti chapel. Cavaradossi's lover Tosca, however, believes that he has another woman, and betrays him and Angelotti to Baron Scarpia, the chief of police.
