No meet cute
Nota 9
I love the “Spinster Club” series. So when Holly Bourne came with another book, even if it was not part of the Spinsters, I had to read it. Audrey has been hurt, by her father who has left them, by her ex boyfriend who has dumped her for another girl and is a complete douche bag. She can spot a ‘fuckboy’ (direct quote), from a mile away. She knows Harry is trouble and everyone is warning her against him, but the pull is strong and so is hope. Parts of the book starts with Audrey’s project for school, an in-depth analysis of romance movies and how they warp reality and give us unrealistic expectations. Audrey is very aware of them and calls them out every time Harry tries to pull a certain cliché on her. The book is not just a love story slamming on love stories. Audrey has to deal with her family troubles as she is the only link between her parents, the only support for her hurting mother. She is already hurting and Harry promises he will not hurt her. I love how honest Holly Bourne writes. This was the case for the Spinster series and held up here. She doesn’t gloss over the life of her characters, about what it is like in a ‘real’ relationships. She really is changing slowly, but surely, the YA Teen stories, as she does not shy away from serious matters in love and family.
