      Preocupat de politică și cultură, Călin Dan încearcă o topică inconfortabilă. O nouă cercetare a imaginii după principii vechi: imaginea nu poate fi o marfă. Aspru, puterea ei devine un fel de punte cauzală spre situații deschise, nonopresive. Călin Dan cunoaște practica tehnologică post-Vietnam și post-Watergate, dar și deziluzia profundă privind guvernarea, societatea ori cultura.


      With a background in art history and theory, Calin Dan is a writer, visual artist, and curator. He is an internationally recognized member of the post-conceptual group subREAL and author of the long-term research project? Emotional Architecture ?. After 1989 he became an advisor to the Mondrian and Pro Helvetia foundations, editor-in-chief of Arta / Art magazine and artistic director of the Soros Center for Contemporary Art, Bucharest and art director of Lost Boys Interactive Media Co. Amsterdam. He is currently director of the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC) and visiting professor at the National University of the Arts in Bucharest. With works at the Venice, São Paulo, Istanbul and Sydney biennials as well as at the Ars Electronica, Linz, Dutch Electronic Arts Festival, Rotterdam and European Media Art Festival Osnabrück participated. In Germany he took part in the International Short Film Festival in Oberhausen; at Ostranenie, the International Video Forum of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, at the Videonale Bonn and at the ZKM (Center for Art and Media), Karlsruhe. He received the special prize of the experimental film festival Split (2000) and the prize of the Videonale Bonn (2001).
