Nota 10
The end is nigh!
Apocalypse is coming and the Antichrist is coming with it, the great event that was foretold by thousands of years.
“’Don’t think of it as dying,’ said Death. ‘Just think of it as leaving early to avoid the rush.'”
Before you start reading the book you must let go of all the preconceptions about good and evil, heaven and hell, angels, demons, witches, hellhounds, satanic nuns, even God. If you do that, it’s the funniest story you’ll ever read.
For six thousand years Crowley (a demon) and Aziraphale (an angel) have been living together on Earth. Each has been Heaven and Hell’s representatives since the beginning of times, growing more and more fond of the best (and worst) mankind has to offer. No wonder they team up in the most unlikely duet to stop the Apocalypse.
The only problem is.. they lost the Antichrist. The forces of evil start preparing for the end times, the Four Horsemen have been set loose, London’s M25 (which is in the shape of a demonic sigil) is on fire,
“The Kraken stirs. And ten billion sushi dinners cry out for vengeance.”
Meawhile, Adam, the 11 year old Antichrist have been living a lovely and quiet life.
“If you want to imagine the future, imagine a boy and his dog and his friends. And a summer that never ends.”
In the end, it’s up to Adam to search for his humanity and not for his demonic nature.
Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett created a wonderful world with the most funny characters Agnes Nutter and Anathema Device – witches, Newton Pulcifer the grand-grand-grand etc. son of Thou-Shalt-Not-Commit-Adultery Pulsifer. Crowley and Aziraphale’s friendship makes us wonder about the true purpose In life and makes us consider more deeply what it means to be good or evil.
