boy who leapt through space
Nota 10
Little Kun is a boy that has been the sole center of attention in his family. That is, until his sister Mirai is born and Kun has to learn to share, not only his toys, but also his parents’ attention. The little boy is essentially a spoiled brat and in a strange Scrooge way, Kun is visited by various people in his family, transporting him through space and time; showing him the meaning of family. It is a tough thing to put into words a movie like “Mirai” and make is as engaging. Kun does not move from his garden, yet he manages to go into the past, future and beyond. Novelization is something that can turn the story bland, but Mamoru Hosoda has managed to avoid that and not just expand the script from points to little descriptors tying it together. He has used a lot of things from his previous works, images that throw back to either “Girl who leapt through time” or “Wolf Children”, making one union of his best works into a unique story about a boy learning that he is not that special. What makes him special is his family, baby sister included.
