Best Of Tweety & Sylvester is a series of comics for kids. The series features Academy Award winning animation characters Sylvester the Cat together with Tweety the yellow canary.
Seen in nearly 103 films made in the golden age of cartoons, Sylvester first debuted in Life With Feathers by Friz Freleng, released in the year 1945. Tweety has appeared in 47 cartoons of that period. Tweety and Sylvester were first seen together in a cartoon called Tweetie Pie by Freleng, released in 1947. Among all of Looney Tunes characters, Sylvester has won the most Academy awards.
Sylvester, the name, is a play on Felis silvestris. It is the scientific term for wild cats. Tweety on the other hand comes from the word sweetie. The word "Tweet", before the age of Twitter, was a typical English term for bird sounds.
Together with Tweety, Sylvester ranked thirty third on TV Guide's list of top 50 best cartoon characters. This DVD contains fifteen episodes, and other cartoon characters like Daffy Duck and Porky Pig also feature in some of these episodes.
