William Hurt and Kenneth Branagh star in this romance drama directed by Lesli Linka Glatter. Wealthy but impotent businessman Arthur Barret (William Hurt) employs Roger Martin (Neil Patrick Harris) to perform the one task he cannot do: impregnate his wife, Eleanor (Madeleine Stowe). Roger and Eleanor fall in love, however, and Barret threatens to kill Roger if he returns to the house. When Eleanor discovers Roger's body in a pauper's graveyard, she believes that Barret has had him killed. Barret's nephew, Father McKinnon (Kenneth Branagh), teams up with Eleanor to uncover the truth.
