These three CDs that celebrate the first quarter century of Café del Mar contain 45 unpublished cuts. It is therefore not a collection of pieces that have already been published in the past. No. It is a new album, a gift to the label's fans and admirers and to neophytes, with two basic focuses. The first disc is composed of a selection of unpublished works. We made a request via the Internet to unknown artists all over the word to send us their recordings, as long as they were unpublished. Of those received, we made a first cut of some eighty recordings. We put them on the Internet for three months for fans to listen to and vote on. We have picked up through our web 82.372 votes of 37 different countries. Based on the results of the vote, we came up with the tracklisting for cd´s 2 and 3.
The goal of the feedback, of the interactivity with the lovers of the Café del Mar sounds, was fulfilled far beyond our expectations. The first record is compiled with the unpublished work of artists known for their previous recordings. On the other two CDs, we wanted to give the unpublished work of unknown artists the same chance. The turn of the habitual, new and future followers of Café del Mar music. You have here a varied, instructive group of proposals, so deliberate on your choices or preferences.
