Free-Patri-Ation from 2008 is Afro-German reggae artist Patrice’s fifth studio album and his first since his breakthrough effort, Nile. Returning from that album are the production team of Matt Kent and Cameron McVey -- who previously worked with Massive Attack and Neneh Cherry -- along with his live band, Shashamani. The opening “Clouds” is the album’s lead single, and it gives a taste of Patrice’s unique brand of Island music, which adds downtempo, R&B, folk, and pop flavors to its reggae base.
