“From Elvis in Nashville” includes 40 pieces from sessions at Studio B RCA in June and September 1970 — presented here without the original overdubs to transport the listener as if he were in Studio B - as well as rare and unprecedented shots, all recently mixed by famous sound engineer Matt Ross-Spang (John Prine, Jason Isbell) The “marathon” sessions that spread over five days (starting at the beginning of the evening and extending until dawn) resulted in a wide variety of “country” tracks, ranging from bluegrass to honky-tonk to more policed sounds, and even touches of the “outlaw” sound that would soon dominate country charts. Highlights are a manned version of Willie Nelson's title “Funny How Time Slips Away”, the moving “I've lost you”, a powerful cover of Simon & Garfunkel's “Brige Over Troubled Water” and a new version of “Love Letters' that Presley had already recorded in 1966. Following the Las Vegas concerts, the King appeared briefly at Studio B at the end of September. However, the sessions were not as successful as those in June, the wild version of Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin'On” is one of the highlights.
