'SONG', a legendary fashion, art, and interiors concept store in Vienna was founded in the 1990s by Myung-il Song. As an early outpost of edgy design and emerging artists, it quickly became the city's most popular platform for avant-garde fashion. This book presents a retrospective of the 'SONG' fashion archives, with clothing by Dirk Van Saene, Martin Margiela, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dries Van Noten, Bernhard Willhelm, Stephen Jones, Kei Ninomiya, Paul Harnden Shoemakers , and Balenciaga. These unique and timeless pieces in Myung-il Song's personal collection have been re-photographed and are published here together for the first time.

The SONG archive, consisting of the most exclusive and valuable pieces, was never accumulated with any intention other than to treasure and to wear. Never once was an item bought with the thought of future value, to make an easy sale, or to please anyone other than herself. I secretly suspect that the only reason this archive “merely” holds some one thousand pieces is the fact that the song store itself has been a success for over twenty years. Meaning that Myung-il “was forced to sell” – it is a shop, that is what shops do – these precious finds to her loyal customers, because they loved them too. That is why she couldn’t keep every handpicked gem for herself.

Gathered in this publication, among the gracious thoughts and ruminations of some of the most inaccessible and private figures in fashion, is a never-before-seen, gathered and photographed collection of avant-garde pieces hand-picked and owned by one single individual, Viennese song store owner Myung-il Song.

I’ll Wear It until I’m Dead is the story of an archive and the store it accompanies. This is two decades of song, talked about, photographed, made fun of, cried over, lauded, railed against, referenced, explained and framed by Myung-il Song and world famous fashion designers.
