The release contains over 12 hours of standard DVD quality material on one Blu-ray disc. It is a re-release of historical recordings in a new edition, with brilliant sound. The concept of In Rehearsal & Performance delivers exactly what the title promises: rehearsal and concert footage.
The camera accompanies world-class conductors such as Carlos Kleiber, Ferenc Fricsay and Georg Solti as they rehearse a work by Beethoven, Smetana or Dvorák - and then into the performance of said work. In this way, the release offers viewers the unique opportunity to experience and compare conductors as they stand before the orchestra. And it offers the opportunity to witness how a work changes over time as a conductor shapes and forms it in rehearsal - until it sounds exactly as he or she wants it to for the concert.
