Born in Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Coelho has worked as a theatre director, actor, and journalist, and his songwriting collaboration with Brazilian composer and singer Raul Seixas produced some of Brazil's greatest classic rock songs. His books have sold more than 200 million copies worldwide, and his most famous novel, The Alchemist, has been translated into eighty languages.
