Frances McDormand stars in this drama based on the book by Jessica Bruder. After losing her job, 60-something widow Fern (McDormand) leaves her small town of Empire, Nevada, sells most of her possessions, purchases a van and begins living as a modern-day nomad. Living in her van as she travels across the country in search of work, Fern takes a series of low-paying jobs and meets like-minded drifters as she adjusts to her new life on the road.
