Eight years ago, Anne Elliot followed the advice of Lady Russell, her only true friend, and broke off her engagement to the dashing young naval officer Frederick Wentworth. When Anne and the now wealthy Captain Wentworth cross paths years later, it is clear that he has neither forgotten-nor forgiven-their past. Can true love survive heartbreak? Who should we listen to in matters of the heart? Filled with Jane Austen's trademark wit, Persuasion is both a delightful romantic comedy and a surprisingly subversive exploration of our need to persuade, and be persuaded by, others.

      Persuasion
was written by Jane Austin in 1816 when she was very ill and was first published in 1817. Considered to be one of her best works, Persuasion is often ranked among the greatest novels in the English language. It tells the story of Anne Elliot, a young woman who is persuaded to break off her engagement before eventually weighing the option to give the relationship another chance. The novel is beautifully written and explores complex themes such as love, loss, and second chances, in addition to exposing how the social and cultural norms of Regency England impacted relationships of the time.
