Primed to Perform

With my extensive research background, I’m still attracted to theories that are scientifically proven. That’s one of them, on a topic that comes across in almost every conversation I have with leaders: how to increase people’s motivation? The good news is that it’s not on us to increase it, that’s their personal treasure, but it’s on us to discover it, let it shine, make space for it, nurture it, and most importantly, not kill it.

To me, this book is more of a manual for how to build high-performing cultures. The link between culture and performance is clearly made in one of the key conclusions of the book: “Why we work determines how well we work.”

For this to happen, we need active and conscious leadership and not hands-off leadership. We need to actively do stuff. It involves empowering individuals to engage in work that ignites their passion, fostering a culture of curiosity and experimentation, enabling them to witness the impact of their contributions, and nurturing their professional growth.
