Young Irena, together with her mother and brother, is forced to leave her native Paris and move to a provincial town on the coast of Normandy. Her mother will work as a housekeeper in the estate of the prominent mechanic and engineer Lazarus. This house is full of extraordinary mysterious mechanisms: robots that open doors, clocks with mysterious smiles, dancing dolls, which in their plasticity are no worse than living people. But one night, a Shadow bursts into the magical estate from the gloomy corners of the past. Irene learns that the beautiful wife of the inventor has not left the house for twenty years. Twenty years ago something irreversible happened here. But what exactly? Lazarus dolls keep a terrible secret of their creator. And their views don't seem so friendly anymore...
