Fred Zinnemann directs this classic drama based on the novel by Kathryn C. Hulme. Audrey Hepburn stars as young Belgian girl Gabrielle Van Der Mal who fulfils her dream of becoming a nun and serving in the Congo. The film was nominated for eight Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Writing, Screenplay Based On Material from Another Medium and Best Actress in a Leading Role (Hepburn).
