Ihsahn - Vinyl

Ihsahn, frontman/chief composer of the legendary band Emperor, has completed his eighth album, Ihsahn. The unpredictable maverick simultaneously releases two versions of the same melody-linked album, metal and orchestral, Ihsahn will release his new album on Candlelight Records. The Norwegian progressive metal visionary pushes further into the realm of creative expressionism with his eighth studio effort. The release embodies two versions of the same melody-linked album, one metal, the other fully symphonic, both film-influenced masterpieces with the simple, unambiguous title Ihsahn. While his musical journey has often been a revelatory one, the masterful control of rhythm and movement demonstrated throughout "Ihsahn" shows his work as a songwriter/composer at its most focused and confident.This massive endeavor, which professes to be one of the most complex projects he has ever undertaken, is a labyrinthine rabbit hole of his own design, and the sheer scale of his ambition is obvious. Completely self-produced and composed over a period of three years, the metal version was mixed by Jens Bogren and the orchestral version by Joel Dollie, with both versions mastered by Tony Lindgren. Tobias Ornes Andersen and Tobias Solbakk also played drums and percussion; Ihsahn's son, Angell Solberg Tveitan, played additional percussion and Chris Baum played violin. The album artwork was created by Ritxi Ostariz, and all promotional photos were taken by Andy Ford.
