nu a inceput bine george martin sa-l detroneze pe tolkien, ca abercrombie deja lucreaza la detronarea lui george martin. tot ce va place la cantec de gheata si foc - eroi atipici, umor ireverentios, lovituri de gratie neasteptate - este dus la extrem in acest prim volum dintr-o trilogie ce se anunta a fi extraordinara. firele naratiunii converg catre un singur punct. magia isi disputa controlul asupra realitatii cu politica si militarul. batalii sangeroase, lupte pe viata si pe moarte cu monstri de cosmar, romantism si viata de curte, dileme mici si mari, toate intregesc universul prefigurat de acesta carte, un univers savuros care te face sa vrei mai mult.
