Fees and shipping costs
The prices displayed on the website include VAT. Regarding the books, this is 5%. In case of gastro-food products, VAT is 9%, while, for other products, it is 19%.
The prices displayed for the products don’t include the shipping costs. These will be determined, separately, in the cart, according to: the value of the ordered products and the shipping address where you want to send the products.
In case you place an order with delivery in Romania by courier, with a value exceeding RON 150, the shipping is free of charge.
If the value is lower than RON 150, we have the following shipping fees for Romania:
- in Bucharest and Ilfov County – RON 9.5 for orders with products with a value not-exceeding RON 99,99, RON 7.5 for orders valued between RON 100 and RON 149.99, by express courier.
- in Romania, RON 15 for orders of products with a value not-exceeding RON 99.99, RON 7.5 for products valued between RON 100 and RON 149.99, by express courier.
If you reside in Bucharest, you may receive the package in the same day, via the following services:
- Sinapseria – bike shipment in Bucharest – only for products with the 24 hours label and for orders placed until 14:00 – shipping cost RON 19.90. Next day delivery for all online orders sent from 3 p.m. until midnight, from Monday to Thursday and which contain products with the 24h label, shipment cost RON 11.90.
For same day delivery you will not benefit from free shipping, regardless of the order value.
For shipment outside Romania, the shipping costs are automatically included, according to the destination country, weight and product category, the payment being available, solely, online, via card. Also, no partial shipping will be performed, regardless of the ordered products status: we will wait to have your full order before shipping the package.
Availability and shipping term
The products present in the Carturesti.ro online bookstore have different labels, according to their availability.
Therefore, on the website, you will find the following inventory symbols:
Next day delivery for orders sent from Monday until Thursday, between 9:00 and 16:00
This tag appears when we have left only a few items of the product.
This tag appears when the product’s inventory is depleted in our offer, currently.
These products can be preordered and will be delivered immediately after they enter our inventory.
These products are available only in some bookstores and cannot be ordered online.
This tag appears when the product is not in inventory but can be provided from the supplier’s inventory.
For the items which we request from the suppliers, the shipping term is directly impacted by the swiftness of their order processing and product shipping.
Situations may arise when the supplier’s inventory is depleted, and our order request will not be processed. Therefore, no matter what our efforts entail, the confirmation and shipment of the order will not be possible.
We will do anything in our power to notify this status as soon as possible, but no later than 10 business days. Also, in case of advance payment, we will reimburse the entire paid amount.
If you have included in your order products with a different shipping term, the shipping will be performed as follows:
- in its entirety, in one parcel, for the items available in inventory, according to the latest term
- the preorders will be shipped according to the communicated term, in case our supplier does not amend it at a later stage
- If you have selected both products available in the inventory, and in in the inventory of the supplier, an initial shipping will be performed, for the items available in inventory, while the rest of the items will be shipped later, if we receive them from the suppliers
Our shopping cart does not allow the registration of a quantity larger than the shown inventory. Also, the maximum number of items cannot be larger than 5 items per product. In case you desire to acquire a larger quantity, please send your request by e-mail, at ecomenzi@carturesti.info.
Along with the finalization of the shopping cart steps, the registration of the order is confirmed. The shipping confirmation will be communicated later, after the finalization of the processing and preparation of the parcel. In case of orders for products with preorder availability or in the supplier’s inventory, we will immediately notify you once we receive an updated status from the suppliers.
You will be notified regarding the processing and shipment of the package from our offices.
Since the takeover of the parcel by the shipping company, we cannot control the possible delays which affect the shipping process.
Products
The items listed on the carturesti.ro website include descriptions received from the suppliers. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information presented for each product, but we undertake to amend any error occurring in the listing process. In case you receive an item, which does not comply with what you have seen initially on the website, we will replace it with another item, if it is still available in the inventory or we will start the return and reimbursement of the paid amount processes.
We inform you that alcoholic products can be purchased only if you are over 18 years old.
Payment methods
Online card payment
After the finalization of the shopping, you chose online card payment, fill in your card information and you will be
redirected to the page/platform of the payment processor which whom we collaborate.
If the payment is not confirmed, you will receive a new payment link, automatically. If the payment remains
unconfirmed in 12 hours’ time, the order will be marked as cancelled.
Payment due by return
If you choose the payment due by return, you will hand it over to the courier delivering you parcel the owed amount, in cash. We remind you that the amount to be paid is mentioned in the invoice received at the registered e-mail address.
Payment by PO
You may choose to pay by bank transfer, on the basis of the order confirmation e-mail.
ATTENTION! In order for us to be able to process and ship the
order you placed on carturesti.ro, it is necessary that you submit to us the bank transfer payment proof by e-mail,
at ecomenzi@carturesti.info, and, also, the amount must be visible in our account. The parcel will be shipped only
after the fulfillment of these two conditions.
Payment with cultural card or gift card
You may choose to pay with the Sodexo, UP, Edenred cultural or gift cards when you order on carturesti.ro. All you must do is pick your favorite items, add them to the cart, and, when finalizing the order, choose online card payment (cultural or gift) and fill in your cultural card information.
Saving the card on carturesti.ro entails compliance with the Security policies in force. In this regard, no information related to your card will be used abusively, needing the 3-D secure authentication. The products on this website are commercialized through the online payment service offered by PayU.
Shipping methods
You can opt for shipping at address, through courier, pick-up from bookstore or pick-up from easybox/locker.
Carturesti collaborates with 5 shipping companies for internal shipping and with DHL, exclusively, for international shipping.
Shipping on the territory of Romania will be performed by the following shipping companies: Fan Courier, Cargus, Sameday, Bookurier and DPD. The selection is made automatically, according to criteria set out in the system. For returnable packaging, the shipment will be performed, solely, through DPD.
We inform you that, for pick-up from easybox/locker, the payment method can be online card, advance payment or card payment at the locker, if it has a POS included.
Also, there is a possibility that the parcel dimensions are inappropriate for the selected easybox/locker. This can be determined only while sorted in the warehouse of the courier. In his case, the shipping method will be updated with the address, and you will receive a notification via SMS from the courier to fill in the necessary details.
Gift vouchers
Gift vouchers can be electronically, directly from the website, by accessing the link https://cărturești.ro/coupon-checkout.
The order can be placed only from a registered account, valid on carturesti.ro, and the payment can be made solely by card, online.
Once the order is finalized, the voucher will be electronically delivered, as a pdf file, to the e-mail address selected in the shopping cart.
The value can be used in 3 acquisitions, and the validity period is 6 months.
For online shopping, the voucher will be used by entering the bar code – the number formed of 13 digits.
The gift vouchers are not-nominal and transmissible. Don’t share the series and code of the voucher. The issuer does not assume responsibility for the utilization of the series by unauthorized persons.

Product return
In this regard, we will comply with the provisions of the Government Ordinance no. 34/2014 regarding the consumer rights in agreements concluded with professionals, according to which (only under the conditions of the specified regulation) you have the right to withdraw from the agreement in 14 days starting from the day on which you or a third party, other than the transporter, indicated by you gains physical possession of the products.
In order to exercise the withdrawal right you must inform Direct Client Services SRL, at its registered office in 319A Splaiul Independentei, Sema Park, pavilion OB15A, District 6, Bucharest, 0376 448 000, ecomenzi@carturesti.info regarding your decision to withdraw from this agreement, using an unequivocal statement, for example, a letter sent by mail or e-mail. Also, you can fill in and submit electronically on our website: carturesti.ro/site/retur the standard withdrawal form or any other unequivocal statement. If you use this option, we will submit to you, without delay, on an indelible medium, for example through e-mail, the confirmation on the receival of the withdrawal request. In order to comply with the deadline for withdrawal it is sufficient to submit the decision to exert the withdrawal right, before the expiry of the withdrawal period.
If you withdraw, we will reimburse any amount we have received from you, including delivery fees, except for the additional fees determined by the fact you chose another delivery method than the cheapest standard delivery offered by us, without unwarranted delays and, in any case, no later than 14 days from the date when we are informed about your decision to withdraw from the current agreement. We will perform this reimbursement using the same payment method as the one used on the initial transaction, except for the case when you have expressly agreed to another reimbursement method; in any case, you will not be charged any fees as a result of such reimbursement. We can delay the reimbursement until the date when we have received back the products or until the moment you provided to us the proof of sending back the products, the closest date will be chosen.
Ship the products or hand them over directly to us or, without unwarranted delays and, in any case, in no more than 14 days from the date on which you have communicated to us your withdrawal. The term is met if the products are sent back before the expiry of the 14 days period.
You will have to bear the direct cost of return of the products. You are responsible only for the diminished value of the products caused by handling, other than the necessary one for the determination of the nature, qualities and functioning of the products.
There are excluded from the withdrawal right’s domain the audio or video sealed recordings which were unsealed after shipment, the newspapers, journals and magazines, the digital content, which is not delivered on a physical medium, if the performance has begun with the express consent of the consumer and after he has confirmed the acknowledgement of the fact he will lose the withdrawal right (for example, eBooks). Also, according to art. 16 let. c of G.O. 34/2014, there are excluded from the withdrawal right’s domain the clearly personalized products.
